Margaret M. Williams
Margaret M. Williams (Peggy) has been a teacher for over 25 years. She currently teaches first grade in a classroom that combines native English speakers with those for whom English is their second—and sometimes brand new!—language.
As a freelance writer, Peggy has seen over 300 of her educational and corporate video scripts go into production. She has written feature articles for both print and web media.
Her article “Kyoto By The Book” was published in The Christian Science Monitor and reprinted in The Seoul Times. “Dinner Theater With a Catholic Twist” can be found in St. Anthony Messenger. She had a great time profiling Michael Feldman of Public Radio’s Whad’Ya Know? program for 50 Plus Lifestyles magazine. She has been published at Education.com, as well as a special edition of Writers Digest Magazine, “Writing From the Heart.”
With screenwriting partner Christine DeSmet she writes screenplays and theatrical plays, several of which have done well in competition or been optioned. Their screenplay Chinaware-Fragile (co-written with Robert Shill) took first place in the Slamdance screenwriting competition several years ago and was subsequently optioned by New Line Cinema.
Peggy has also completed her first mystery novel, On The Road To Death’s Door, with another writing partner, Mary Joy Johnson. On her own, she has completed one juvenile chapter book and one picture book manuscript which she is also marketing.
Peggy holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin. She is a member of Writers Guild of America East, Wisconsin Screenwriters Forum, and Sisters in Crime.
Peggy says: “Since becoming an empty nester, writing has become more of a passion than ever for me because it empowers me to go beyond what I already know and to research and learn about people and topics that are endlessly intriguing."
Peggy is the Madison (WI) Political Buzz Examiner for Examiner.com.
